Are you a qualified teacher and want to teach in South Africa? You must register with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) website. You cannot be employed as a teacher if you are not registered with SACE.
Upon successful application, SACE will register you and issue a registration certificate, enabling you to teach in South Africa.
If you have foreign qualifications, they must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) before you register with SACE. Additionally, SAQA does not evaluate qualifications for specific employment purposes. For employment as a teacher in South Africa, submit your qualifications and academic transcripts to the Department of Basic Education (Section: Educator Qualifications and Programmes) for evaluation. You will be informed in writing of the outcome. Your qualification must be recognized for employment in education before registering with SACE.
